Regular Ethernet cable stops working reliably past about 100 m (328 ft) and can pick up electrical interference and lightning surges between buildings. The kit swaps that run for outdoor fiber, so your second building gets a fast, wired connection from your main network. Fiber is a good fit between buildings because it can run much farther than standard Ethernet, which tops out at 100 meters (328 feet), and because it carries light instead of electricity, so it isn't affected by lightning or electrical interference.
It suits a detached garage, workshop, office or second home 100 to 250 m from your router, where both buildings have power. Under 100 m, a regular outdoor Ethernet cable may be simpler and cheaper. Over 250 m, or if there's no power at the far end, contact us first.

Internet service and a router or switch with a free Ethernet port, power at both buildings, Ethernet cables from your router and your equipment to the injectors, a Wi-Fi access point if you want wireless at the far end, and any conduit or supports your route needs.
